eLawForum Privacy Policy

eLawForum Corporation ("eLawForum") is committed to safeguarding the privacy of the users of its website. This Privacy Policy sets forth eLawForum’s policies regarding the collection and treatment of personally identifiable information.

"Site" refers to this Internet website (www.elawforum.com) and its related services. The Site acts as a venue within which a corporation, partnership, limited liability company or other business or person registered with eLawForum (each, an "Entity") may seek legal services from law firms or individual attorneys registered on the Site (each a "Provider"). The Site helps an Entity locate Providers that meet the Entity’s specified requirements for legal services and provides a platform for an Entity to post Requests for Proposals ("RFPs") for such legal services. The Site then enables invited Providers to view and respond to specific RFPs posted on the Site. "User" or "Users" refers to Entities and Providers, collectively.

What personally identifiable information is collected on the Site?
In the course of its registration process, eLawForum collects certain personally identifiable information. Personally identifiable information is information that can be traced back to a single user. Names, physical addresses, and email addresses are examples of personally identifiable information that is collected during the registration process.

Certain additional information is also collected and used solely in connection with improving the performance and responsiveness of our services and website. This information includes a User’s originating domain, time of visit, connection speed, domain names, and internet service provider.

How is the information collected and maintained?
Any personally identifiable information collected by eLawForum is provided directly by Users in the course of the registration process or in connection with updating such information. eLawForum does not use third parties to collect such information. Such information is password protected and Users alone control the content and accuracy of their personally identifiable information Users may "opt out" of having continued collection of their personally identifiable information by terminating their registration with the Site. In any event, eLawForum may retain in backup or inactive files the uncorrected or outdated form of data that is corrected or updated. Such data may be retained for several reasons, including technical constraints, dispute resolution purposes, troubleshooting and enforcement of agreements. Users have access to their individual information at all times and may update or correct it at any time. If Users believe that there are errors in their information that they cannot correct by accessing the Site, they can avail themselves of the redress mechanisms currently in place through Customer Service.

What other types of information are collected and how is that information treated?
While personally identifiable information is the primary focus of this Privacy Policy, eLawForum also has in place policies and procedures to protect other information that may be provided or collected in the course of the use of the Site. For example, Providers only have access to their own information. Entities only have access to their own information and general information about individual Providers that has been provided by the Providers. Please refer to the User Agreement (accessible by clicking on "/user.adp") for a fuller discussion of the confidential treatment of information provided by Entities and Providers when registering and in the course of participating in an RFP on the Site. Will eLawForum use personally identifiable information to contact Users?
From time to time, eLawForum will send Site and service announcement updates to Users by email. Active Users may not un-subscribe from service announcements, which contain important information about the Site and service. In addition, eLawForum may request Entities and/or Providers to complete questionnaires or surveys regarding their use of the Site to be used by eLawForum solely to gather information to assist it in improving eLawForum’s services or the navigation features and functionality of the Site. Participation in such surveys is voluntary.

Is the information shared and/or transferred?
Personally identifiable information will be not transferred or sold to third parties. Certain information, such as email or physical addresses may be shared between Entities and Providers that are participating in the RFP service on the Site. Notwithstanding the foregoing, eLawForum will divulge personally identifiable information to law enforcement agencies or other governmental agencies when required to do so or when eLawForum in good faith believes it is necessary in order to comply with legal obligations. In addition, in the event that eLawForum or substantially all of its assets are acquired or merged into another entity, personally identifiable information may be transferred to the successor in interest.

Does the Site use "cookies"?
Cookies are used by eLawForum to verify an individual User’s access to discrete areas of the Site. Such use of cookies is required for a User to access and use the Site. Upon a User’s login, a cookie is written to a User’s browser containing an encrypted version of the User’s user identification including authorized role. This information is sent to the Site during the course of the User’s navigation and use of the Site. Cookies or information contained in a cookie are not shared with any other website or third party.

Does the Site use "log files"?
When Users visit the Site, they automatically disclose certain information to our server, such as Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. eLawForum uses IP addresses to analyze trends in Site usage, administer the Site, track a user’s movement through the Site, and gather demographic information.

What type of security is employed by the Site?
All information gathered on the Site is encrypted and protected with secure sockets layer (SSL) encryption. The Site is a certified VeriSign secure site. Please visit www.verisign.com for more information about the VeriSign security certification program. In addition, use of the Site by individual Users is password-protected. Only the individual User and eLawForum personnel (solely on a need to know basis) have access to such information. All information collected from Users by eLawForum is stored on servers hosted in a physically secure environment. Questions about the security of the Site should be directed to customer_service@elawforum.com. Notwithstanding the foregoing, Users should keep in mind that this Site and the eLawForum services are run on software, hardware and networks, any component of which may, from time to time, require maintenance or experience problems or breaches of security.

Is the Site connected to other websites by "links"?
eLawForum may provide links to the websites of a limited number of third parties. In addition, client Entities and Providers may also provide links to their websites. eLawForum is not responsible for the content, reliability, security, or privacy practices of these websites. This Privacy Policy applies solely to this Site.

How are Users notified of changes in the Policy?
From time to time, eLawForum may update this Privacy Policy by posting a revised Policy on this web page and a notice on the Site's homepage. Changes to the Policy will take effect upon posting. Users who are unwilling to accept such changes may "opt out" by terminating their registration with the Site.
